前年度にひき続き学内で定期的にセミナーを行い, 4人の研究者が自己の分担部分の研究発表, 論文の紹介を行った.その内容は, 素数の分布に関するもの, ヤング図形の組み合わせ論的アプローチ, グラフの表現論とり一環のルート系との関係, 有限群と整数との関係等である.細菌, フェルマの大定理の肯定的解決が成功したらしいという報道もあるが, その手法は, 代数幾何的なものである. これにみるように, 整数論の諸問題は, その枠内にとどまらず, 多面的な観点からアタックすることが必要でもあり, 成功につながるものである. このような意味からも, 今年度のセミナーは, 4人にとって刺激的かつ極めて有益なものであった. また, 松下と田中は, D-加群の構造に興味をもち, 特にD-加群の半準純リ一環の表現論への応用について研究しつつある.表現を与えることは1つのD-加群を与えることと同値であるということから応用が開かれるのであるが, そのことがまた整数の研究に役立つかどうかも今後の課題であろう.以上のような今年度の研究過程の1つの具体的成果として, 中村の「チェビシェフ関数と素数の分布」がある. この内容は, 素数の分布を与える式の精密化を与えるもので, 古くからある不等式を著しく改良したものである.
