The results of investigations on the Nepalese native domestic animals and their wild forms in 1988 and 1989 are summarized as follows:1) The genetic variability was very low in the yak, highest in the yak-cattle hybrid, and that of Lulu cattle was intermediate beween them. The genetic constitution of yak was estimated to be much differentiated from any breeds of European and Indian cattle. 2) Of four native Nepalese sheep breeds, the Baruwal, Kagi and Lampchhre derive from the Indian sheep as well as Bangladesh, while the Bhyanglung differs from these three breeds Phylogenetically. 3) The gene constitution of Nepalese native pigs has a common feature with the native pigs fed in neighbor regions such as Bangladesh except a high Tf^c gene frequency of the Nepalese. The genetic relationship was found between the native pig population and the Nepalese Indian wild boar. 4) The presence of breeding season in the Nepalese red jungle fowl was confirmed by the hearing survey and the necropsy.
