Urban Development of Turkish and Syrian Cities since the Late Ottman Empire Period

本研究项目从根本上关注19世纪末以来中东城市的城市化与空间结构转型。主要研究地区是土耳其和叙利亚。首先，我们选择了阿勒颇来分析城市化对经济和社会结构的影响。为此，我们对传统商业区和新开发商业区的一些特定区域进行了调查。其次，在伊斯坦布尔、安卡拉、伊兹密尔等几个土耳其重要的区域中心城市，从奥斯曼帝国和土耳其共和国时期城市政策的空间含义的角度对城市规划及其实现进行了比较研究。

This research project is fundamentally concerned with urbanization and transformation of spatial structure in the Middle Eastern cities since the end of 19 th century. The main study areas are Turkey and Syria. Firstly, we chose Aleppo to analyze the impacts of urbanization on the economic and social structure. For this purpose, we investigated some specific areas both in a traditional commercial area and a newly developped one. Secondly, in several Turkish cities such as Istanbul, Ankara, Izmir and other Important regional centers, we conducted a comparative study which focused on urban planning and its realization from the viewpoints of the spatial implication of urban policies both under the Ottman Empire and the Turkish Republic.
