This research project aimed to clarify the influences of the "Imported Civilization" in the formation of Southeast Asian cities and urban cultures in the historical perspectives utilizing both historical materials and observations on the spots. Influences of Hindu Civilization, Islam Civilization, and Western Colonialism on the Southeast Asian societies were particularly examined for this purpose. The research was carried out focusing on the formation of the networks in Southeast Asian societies, modifications of the laws provided by the Great Traditions, and development of. urban domain and urban culture.
