项目摘要

1.研究の実施状況西日本各地、九州、中国、四国、近畿地方において、商店街名を中心とする通称地名の実施調査を行った。調査準備と現地照合のため多数の地図、市街図、商店街案内図入りガイドマップ等を購入した。土地利用図は調査すべき商業地区の確認に、歴史地図は変遷の確認に用いた。調査は標識、広告等の観察、写真記録、聞きとり調査により行い、また商店会等への往復はがきによるアンケ-トを実施した。2.研究成果の概要京阪神に関しては、「関西方言の実態に関する社会言語学的研究」(総合研究A昭60ー62年度)の分担研究として調査記録を行ったので、その増強を計るとともに、西日本における京阪神意外の大影響圏の実態の解明を主とした。北九州市を中心とするア-ケ-ド街名称「銀天街」、広島市を中心とする「本通」名称などの実態と分布について、西日本各地の調査を行い、分布図の作成と言語地理学的研究論考の執筆を行った。とくに九州中心の銀天街名称については、関連する新天街等の名称や全国型の銀座等と比較しながら、東は徳島県、津山市に至る分布と現地での使用状況を臨地調査により確認した。商店街名と商店街による町名等を包括する、「商業地名」を設定した。九州を中心とする西日本広域調査で次の傾向が明らかになった。(1)九州と中国・四国との間にはかなり流行の連続性影響関係がある。(2)商業地名の流行分布には、大都市や県都にも影響する強い連続分布と、大都市にはばまれる弱い分布、ある都市に及んでその影響圏に二次派生する分布等がある。関西方言について昭和60ー62年度に行った通称地名の調査資料を増強し、新しい分布図を作成した。また広告に見られる文字、用語、文体の西日本的地域差に注目し、論考を執筆した。
