项目摘要

1.研究の実施状況北海道・東北・沖縄地方において、商店街を中心とする通称地名の実地調査を行った。この調査によって、これまでの関連研究において未調査だった遠隔地の地方都市における実地調査を補い、この問題に関して全国の実態を把握することができるようになった。調査は写真撮影、現地での聴取、地図との照合、商店会などの現地調査と通信調査、地元案内図の収集などによって行った。また地図資料による全国各地の補足研究を行った。設備備品費による参考図書は各地の変遷を理解する資料として活用した。一部絶版となり購入できなかった部分の購入費は新刊の沖縄の辞典購入にあて、沖縄県方言の理解に役立てた。遠隔地の現地調査と全国各地の補足確認のため最新版の都市図やガイドマップを購入利用した。通称地名の分布と実態に関する報告論文を5編執筆した。2.研究成果の概要従来より調査研究している「銀座」等の商店街名の伝播状況が全国規模で明らかになった。とくに北海道の実地調査において、多くの例を補い確認している。また、全国再東端の都市北海道根室市と最西端の都市沖縄県石垣市については、くわしい実地調査報告を執筆した。調査についてまとめた地名型は、銀座のほか、十字路の地名、駅前商店街の地名の型などであるが、引き続きその他の地名型についても資料整理を進めている。この実地調査研究を通してとくに認識したことは、地図資料における通称地名情報の著しい欠如や不備の実情であった。この研究がそのような不備を補い、今後の地図の改善にも役立つことを願うものである。
