项目摘要

1.研究の実施状況中部・北陸地方を中心に主として西日本各地において、商店街名を中心とする通称地名の実地調査を行った。調査は写真撮影、地図との照合、商店会などの現地調査と通信回答、地元案内図の収集などにより行った。設備備品費による『京都市町名変遷史』は歴史的に全国に大きな影響を与えてきた京都の街構造を把握して各地と比較する基礎作業に用いた。現地調査に当たり,現地把握のために最新版のマップガイド、都市地図を,変遷確認のため大正・昭和前期の二万五千分一地形図の復刻版を購入し照合作業を行った。通称地名の分布と実態に関する報告論文を6編執筆発表した。2.研究成果の概要とくに全国に大きな影響を与えた「銀座」について、模倣名の全国分布とその波及の歴史を調査確認した。また、銀座名称が地方各地の固有の商店街名とどのように接触変化したり共存し、あるいは交替するかを考察した。実地調査は主に中部以西であるが、調査過程で全国の商店街組合名鑑を見得たため、全国の分布状況を確認することができた。ただし組合名と商店街名とはかならずしも一致せず、実地調査や各種地元資料によって補正確認した部分も多い。主たる得られた知見は次の通り。(1)銀座模倣名は主として大正末昭和初頭に広がり昭和30年代まで盛行。(2)東京志向が強そうな東北に予想外に少なく、東京と対抗意識がありそうな近畿にも多いことが分かった。 (3)西日本では「銀座街」の型が特徴的である。(4)カタカナ外国語名への交替や折衷名称の増加が目だっている。そのほか各地方の特徴的な命名法や流行について記録考察した。
