微弱な刺激を、強音に先行付加提示すると、強音に対する瞬目反射の振幅は抑制する。この現象を先行刺激抑制効果と呼ぶ。本研究では先行刺激として左手示指背側部に与えられる振動刺激(触覚S_1)および1000Hzなし1030Hzの純音(聴覚S_1)を用い、当該現象におよぼす先行刺激の感覚モダリティの影響、ならびに先行刺激に対する被験者の選択的注意の効果を検討した。本年度研究費によって構築したパソコンを用いた実験システムでは、触覚S_1、聴覚S_1、ならびに反射誘発刺激(S_2)を、自由度高く提示できる。S_2は持続時間は40ms、立ち上がり・立ち下がり時間は0ms、強度は110dBとし、仰臥位の被験者の両耳にスピ-カを介して提示した。聴覚S1の持続時間は40ms、立ち上がり・立ち下がり時間は4ms、強度は75dBとした。触覚S_1は、左手示指に装着した圧電スピ-カを介して提示される200Hzの矩型振動で、閾値+20dBあった。また、S_1とS_2との先行時間は66、160、316、ならびに1140msの4種であった。測定した反応は、左右眼論筋筋電図積分値ならびに垂直EOG及びFz、Cz、Pzからの脳波であった。第一実験では、先行刺激抑制効果に及ぼす選択的注意の効果を、S_1に対してキ-押し課題を付加する条件と、なんら課題を付加しない条件を比較することによって検討した。被験者は20名の大学生であった。その結果、触覚S_1でも聴覚S_1と同様制効果が確認でき、またS_1に対して右手キ-押し反応を要求すると、感覚モダリティに関係なく抑制効果は強調された。第二実験では、被銘者20名を用いて、S_1の出現頻度が当該効果に及ぼす影響を、脳波事象関連電位(ERP)を副指標として検討した。その結果、1/10の確率で糸示されるS1の抑制効果がより顕著であること、ならびにS1に対するP3成分がより大きなことが確かめられた。
