项目摘要

(1)本研究は、室町時代から現代に及ぶ約650年の間に作られた謡曲約2500番について,簡潔な各曲解題を作成し、それらを主題・内容別に分類して,古今の謡曲が容易に検索できるよすにすることである。特に大正八年に刊行された丸岡桂の先駆的研究『古今謡曲解題』(完曲832番を主体とする)の精神を継承し発展させようと意図するものである。(2)研究費の交付された平成2〜3年の二年間は、これまで進めてきた能本の調査をさらに進め(写真等による意集)、未発見曲の博搜にも努めるとともに、同名異曲・異名同曲、同材異曲等を弁別し、各曲について、登場人間・時・所・梗概・本文の所在・作者・演能記録等を簡潔に記した解題の作成に努め、主人公や主題を加味した分類を作成した。(3)分類の一端を示せば、『古今謡曲解題』第三、歌人及俊秀は、小野小町・在原業平・檜垣の女・紀貫之・紫式部・和泉式部・式子内親王・小侍従・西行法師・楽舞・雑とあるが、本研究では、さらに衣通姫・人磨・黒主・実方・公任・為兼・清少納言・鴨長明・兼好法師・兼載・宗祇・能因・貞徳・芭蕉を加えるとともに、中国の詩人を立項して屈源・陶淵明・蘇東坡などを加えた。戦前・戦後の謡曲研究の成果を生かした新たな分類を創案し、範囲を大きく広げることができたのも成果である。(4)新資料の発見もあった。たとえば、河村隆司氏(観世流シテ方、京都在住)所蔵の番外謡本四種の中から「本願寺」と、わずかに謡物に伝存していた「祇樹園」の発見であり、八戸市立図書館所蔵南部本番外謡曲の中から「玉川」や「弱法師」の異本の発見である。(5)最終目標である各曲解題の作成は、当初の予想を超える難事業で,甚だ難航し、全体をまとめるまでには至らなかったことを反省するとともに、できるだけ近い将来に、「新古今謡曲解題」のかたちで、まとめたいと念じている。
