1.蹴鞠史料調査・収集:以下の各所の蹴鞠史料を調査・収集した。宮内庁書陵部、内閣文庫、国会図書館、天理大学付属図書館、岩瀬文庫、大津市平野神社、京都市歴史資料館。このうち、平野神社の史料は旧蹴鞠道家である難波家の蹴鞠関係書類を、そのまゝ引き継いだものである。量的に多く、また史料の性格上からも、重要な史料であると判断し、年度後半の調査活動を同神社に集中した。全史料を写真撮影により収集した。その量はフィルム10,000コマ以上に達した。現在、分類目録を作成中である。2.蹴鞠秘伝書について:中・近世に蹴鞠道家から門弟に対して発給された秘伝書類が、今回の収集活動の主たる対象の一であった。発給者と受給者の名を確認しうる秘伝書類を約100通、70種収集しえた。これらの多くは写本であったが、原本と思われるものを小数含み、また案文(草稿)も含まれていた。発給年代は応永年間(1394〜1428)から享和(1801〜04)年間にまでわたっている。中世のものは、すべて飛鳥井家発給のものであり、近世のものは、難波家発給(とくに後期)のものが多かった。内容的には技法、作法伝授を中心とするものが殆んどである。3.蹴鞠道家の相伝書との関係:中世の秘伝書は蹴鞠口伝集や内外三時抄等の相伝書からの抜書を何項目かにわたって箇条書にした形式のものが多く、受給者によって抜書の箇所や組み合せを変えていると思われる。近世のものも、対象とする門弟の身分や技〓によって、内客・組合せを変えていることは中世のものと同様であるが、今回披見しえた史料によると、文体は相伝書からの抜書ではなく、より平易な文体により説明が施されている。※ なお、研究成果の一部は、11所載の論文以外に、平成3年3月刊行予定の大日文史料第9編19に生かされている。
