项目摘要

1) At the Merapi volcano, Indonesia, a large scale pyroclastic flow occurs after several small scale failures of the lava dome, as is the case of the Unzen volcano, Japan. This fact confirms the necessity of the joint research.2) Preparation of GPS survey has been done in Bandung area.3) Field investigation and the data analysis of the condition of occurrence of debris flow in the volcanic area and the sediment runoff and river evolution in the Brantas river system have been done.4) At the Sanur beach, Bali Island a system has been set to observe several maritime phenomena all year round and an observation of the littoral current on the coral reef has been performed.5) Field investigation of the situation of the disaster and the nonstructural measures for the disaster has been done.6) For the purpose of establishing a seismotectonic model covering the Japanese island arc and the continental China, the seismicity data from these regions for the past 100 years have been compiled and analyzed from the view point of the physical mechanism of seismic activities and tectonics of this region.7) Strong motion observation instrumentation for the purpose of microzonation was completed in Tangshang, China. Observation activity has started.8) For the purpose of urban seismic risk assessment of the Shanghai area, China, arrangements have been made for long-period microtremor observation and analysis for vulnerability assessment of buildings in the region.9) Site measurements have started on landslides at the Fua Ching Chi, China. Soil samples were obtained, and laboratory tests have been performed.10) Mechanism of glacier surge debris flow in eastern Tibet of China has been studied, and their instrumental observation plan has been established.
