This report is designed to describe how industrial concentration in the Japanese economy would be analysed under current Japanese low and policy, considering that there are numerous commentaries in the West that such industrial concentration is inherently pernicious. Part 1 examines the legal issues of ; 1)basic agreement ; 2)specific agreement ; 3)quality guarantee agreement ; 4)compensation agreement, and 5)inspection agreement,based upon extensive factual investigation and analysis of production keiretsu,including automobile industy.In addition, Part 1 addressed the legal issues under lying so-called lean production system.Part 2 examines the legal issues concerning ; 1)international and domestic tie-ups in computer industry ; 2)computer networks ; 3)computer software technological developments ;and 4)government regulation toward information industry.Part 3 describes current govenment distribution policy with respect to ;1)vertical distributional restraints ;2)large retail store act ;and 3)agricultural co-operatives.Finally,Part 4 attempts to syn the size the analysis of the previous three parts by providing a description of how current law and policy would be applied to Japanese industrial concentration,including groups of enterprises,production Keiretsu and distribution Keiretsu.Part 4 reaches the conclusion that Japanese industrial concentration may have some distinctive features from a legal stand point.
