本研究は、大学院レベルの教育において、開発援助に係る高度の知識と方法論を修得させるために効果的なカリキュラムを総合的に研究することを目的としている。本研究の過程において、(財)国際開発高等教育機構の協力を得て、過去2年間、以下のような研究を行った。即ち、平成3年度には、欧米及び日本の国際開発関連カリキュラムの収集と検討、及び開発援助共同講座の実施。平成4年度には、研究者により事例教材を作成し、専ら事例教材を用いた「開発援助事例研究セミナー」を実施した。このセミナーにおいては、事例とグループ討論に重点をおいた教授法によって指導することは、学生が現実の開発問題を理解する上で、極めて効果的であることが証明された。平成5年度には、我が国における開発・援助人材育成に関しての大学(院)教育の現状を調査することとした。この目的の為、東京大学 医学系研究科、横浜国立大学 国際経済法学研究科、名古屋大学国際開発研究科、神戸大学国際協力研究科の研究科長、教授と会合を持ち、カリキュラムを含む教育の現状及び問題点等につき説明願うと共に、意見を交換した。この会合において各大学(院)の問題点として、養成すべき人材についての大学側のイメージと実社会の要求との不一致、実務型の人材を養成することについての学内コンセンサス形成の困難、外国語による講義実施についての困難、海外実習についての体制の不備と資金的問題、実務経験を有する教授・講師の不足等が指摘された。本年度は、研究期間の最終年に当たっており、過去3年間の研究成果を踏まえ取りまとめを行った。
