Design of clinical laboratory tests for health care of aged people

This study was conducted to make a guideline of clinical laboratory screening tests for health care of aged healty people. Blood samples from a number of aged people living in Okinawa and Tokyo were tested.1. Tje ; abpratpru tests omvestogated in this study were serum total protein and albumin, GOT, GPT, A1-p, r-GTP, total cholesterol, RBC, WBC, Hb, Ht and some hepatitis virus markers. Serum total protein, serum albumin and blood Hb levels were a good indication of general health condition of aged people, but serum total cholesterol level was not.2. There was a high incidence of positive HBs antigen and antibody as well as HCV antibody in aged people living in Tokyo.So we concluded that serum total protein and albumin, Hb and hepartitis virus markers should be tested at a fixed term for health care of aged people.
