さきに提出した研究実施計画にもとづいて次の通り研究課題に関して研究を行った。(1)哲学史における最も精密な形而上学的・神の存在論証であるといわれる『第一原理について』を大学院の演習において取りあげ、スコトゥスが認識の確実性、概念の明晰さ、言語の一義的な明確さに留意しつつ、形而上学的議論を進めていることを確認した。(2)同じく大学院の演習においてトマスの『有と本質について』を取り上げ、トマスにおいては事態そのものの知解をめざすことに重点がおかれ、確実性、明晰さ、一義性への留意はむしろ背後に退く傾向があることを確認した。このことはスコトゥスにおいて形而上学の学(scientia)的性格が確立されたことと関係がある。そしてスアレスを経て、近代のウォルフへと受けつがれる学としての形而上学の伝統はスコトゥスにおいて確立されたものであることが確認された。(3)最近刊行が開始されたヘンリクス・デ・ガンダヴォの批判版を入手して、スコトゥスが専らそれとの対決において自らの形而上学を構築したヘンリクスの基本思想の理解につとめた。またMediaeral Studies(1987ー88)に収載された14世紀の存在概念の一義性に関するテクストにもとづいて、スコトゥスが存在の一義性の立場を形成するに至る経緯をあきらかにしょうと試みた。しかし、この点に関する研究はまだ発表の段階に達してはいない。これらの研究を通じて、認識理論においてはオッカムにおいて決定的な転回がなされるのにたいして、形而上学においては決定的な転回はスコトゥスにおいて行われているとの見通しが確認されたと思う。
