本研究は、コンピュータなどの各種電子情報システムの歴史研究への効果的利用をはかり、歴史情報資源の有効利用をすすめるにあたっての研究システムの開発を企図している。本研究では、この研究課題に即して重点領域研究をおこなうことの意義、重要性、必要性、緊急性などについて慎重に検討を重ね、必要な研究課題、参加研究者、研究班の構成などについて準備を進めてきた。その結果次のような結論を得た。(1)沖縄の歴史と文化への関心が著しく高まっており、環東シナ海を展望した本格的な歴史研究が求められている。(2)沖縄に関する膨大な史料が収集・集積されてきたが、これらにもとづく本格的な文献研究はむしろ今後の課題となっている。とりわけ歴代宝案や琉球評定所文書、かつての琉球王家の記録である尚家文書、沖縄独特の家譜資料、ハワイ大学所蔵宝玲文庫資料などについての本格的な調査研究が期待され、それには計算機の利用がきわめて有効である。琉球・沖縄と環東シナ海地域交流に関する歴史研究にコンピュータの高度な利用を図ることによって、異なる性格の多種の文献資料を用いた歴史研究の新分野を開拓することができる。(3)琉球・沖縄と環東シナ海地域間交流に関する歴史研究を効果的に進めるためには、歴史学の研究領域に限らず広く諸分野にわたる学際的協同策が必要となり、それには重点領域研究によることが最適である。また人文・社会科学との接合に経験の深い情報学関係の研究者の協力・援助を研究全般にわたって求める必要があり、海外の研究機関・研究者の協力を求めることも重要である。このような本研究の成果に基づいて、平成6年度発足重点領域研究として「沖縄の歴史情報研究」(申請代表者:岩崎宏之)を申請した。

This study aims to explore the utilization of historical information resources and the development of electronic information systems. This study focuses on the significance, importance, necessity and urgency of the research topic, participants and the composition of the research class. The results were obtained. (1)The history and culture of the sea are concerned with the development of the sea and the environment. (2)The research of historical materials related to the development of science and technology will be carried out in the future. The research of Ryukyu evaluation institute, Ryukyu royal family records, Ryukyu royal family records, unique family tree data, Ryukyu university treasure library data is expected, and the use of computers is expected. A study on the history of communication between Ryukyu and the East China Sea is carried out on the basis of a variety of literature data on the use of information. (3)The research on the inter-regional communication between Ryukyu and the East China Sea is necessary and appropriate for the study of inter-academic cooperation in the field of historical research. Humanities, Social Sciences, and Informatics: Research cooperation, assistance, and research in general are essential, and cooperation between researchers and overseas research institutions is important.
