Studies of Languages and Cultures of Taiwan and the Philippines

TSUCHIDA在台湾收集了大约2,000个赛夏语和邵语词汇。事实证明，已经很难找到一个人用两种语言记住自己的神话和口头传统。2.山田对Itbayat进行了研究（菲律宾）句法、民俗分类学，揭示人们对环境的认知方式、鱼名、民俗分析。3.森口搜集了二十多篇布农族（台湾）的文本、基本词汇、基本语法项目; Ibatan/Babuyan/Karao/卡林加/Surigao（菲律宾语）词汇。4.角原的田野调查以鲁凯族（台湾）为主，其次是他们周围的萨罗人/卑南人/排湾人。他发现鲁凯族的年轻一代，已经丧失了大部分的口头传统，并从周围的人口中吸收了不少外来的元素。五、清水对台湾东岸两个汉化族群--噶玛兰族和唐加武兰族的现状进行了研究。在他们的民族身份的崛起，卡瓦拉人开始教他们的语言，但没有知识表达各种困难的卡瓦拉音素，他们正面临着一个困难的问题，使入门和文本开始。坦加武兰语已经灭绝，甚至明治时代的户籍记录也已丢失。

The project aims at collecting as much as possible the linguistic and anthropological data of the Austronesian minority groups in Taiwan and the Philippines, which are on the verge of extinction. Field work was conducted in the above two countries for the period of two years (1993-1994), and the following results were obtained.1.TSUCHIDA collected about 2,000 lexical items of Saisiyat and Thao in Taiwan. It turned out that it is already hard to find anybody who remembers their own myths and oral traditions in both languages.2.YAMADA made a research on Itbayat (Philippines) syntax, folk taxonomy to reveal people's way of environment cognition, fish names, and analysis of folktales.3.MORIGUCHI collected more than 20 Bunun (Taiwan) texts, basic vocabulary, basic grammatical items ; Ibatan/Babuyan/Karao/Kalinga/Surigao (the Philippines) vocabulary. grammatical information, and texts.4.KASAHARA conducted field work mainly on the Rukai people (Taiwan), and secondarily on the Saaroa/Puyuma/Paiwan peoples surrounding them. He found that the younger generation of the Rukai have lost most of their own oral traditions, and are taking over quite a number of outside elements from the surrounding populations.5.SHIMIZU made a research on the current situation of the two sinicized ethnic groups on the eastern coast of Taiwan : the Kavalan and the Tangavulan. On the uprise of their ethnic identity, the Kavalan people started to teach their language, but without the knowledge of expressing various difficult phonemes of Kavalan, they are facing a difficult problem to make a primer and texts to begin with. The Tangavulan languages has already become extinct, and even the family register recorded in the Meiji era was lost.
