项目摘要

2022年度は、主に1940年代、火野葦平によるフィリピンでの宣撫活動に関する資料調査を行うとともに、1960年代の秋元松代の作品における〈フィリピン〉の表象について詳しく検討した。（１）火野葦平の文学活動・宣撫工作に関する調査では、フィリピン・マニラにあるFilipinas Heritage Libraryとフィリピン国立図書館にて資料調査をおこなった。ここでは、火野の既発表作品がフィリピンでの発行のためにアンソロジーとしてまとめられ、英語への翻訳とあわせて刊行されていた資料を発見した。また、火野を中心としたフィリピンに滞在した徴用作家たちと、フィリピン人作家たちの関係性（日本占領はフィリピンの文学者にどのように受け止められていたのか）に関する資料も多数入手できた。並行して、日本占領下のフィリピンで発行されていた雑誌「南十字星」や「新世紀（Bagong Araw）」といったメディアの調査も進行中である。（２）秋元松代「マニラ瑞穂記」（1964）という戯曲の同時代的な位置づけや、テクストの解釈について研究を進めた。その一部を日本文学協会の研究発表大会にて発表した。重要な視点として浮上したのは、明治期にフィリピンに渡った日本人女性、いわゆる「からゆきさん」の表象である。この言辞の分析を通して、1960年代の日本のナショナリズム批判においてはイメージ／表象としての〈フィリピン〉が重要な役割を果たしていたことを明らかにした。言い換えれば、〈フィリピン〉を描くことで日本の状況を説明しうるという関係があったのである。（３）上記に加え、アメリカのカリフォルニア大学ロサンゼルス校にて資料調査をおこなった。アメリカ統治時代のフィリピンにおける日記資料などを広く収集することができた。
