项目摘要

本研究の目的は、日英のそれぞれが直面している社会問題の中心テーマである階級、高齢化、教育、女性と家族の4つに絞り、それぞれのテーマごとに、専門的連携の取れる日英協力研究体制を組み、基礎的データの集積、分類、整理、分析を共同して行うことであったが、その2年度は、この研究計画に基づき、2名の派遣と1名の招へいとを行い、日英の両研究機関でセミナーを開催して、計画の進展を図った。2年度におけるこの交流は、初年度と同様、大きな反響を呼んだ。まず、相手大学であるシェフィールド大学のなかでは、このプロジェクトの呼掛けは、社会学部門だけでなく教育学部門にもまたがる幅広い研究者の自発的ネットワークを形成することとなり、彼らのあいだに日本社会の社会科学的分析についての強い知的関心を喚起する結果となった。本学においても、実質的研究交流の進展は、単なる形式的な交流の段階から内実を伴う実質的交流を行いうる基盤を、とくに社会科学、社会研究を行っているスタッフのなかに築き上げ、また、開催された交流セミナーは学内では他部門の研究スタッフの多数参加を得ただけでなく、学生院生の参加も多く、彼らの間にも大きな知的関心を喚起した。また、研究テーマについての共通理解を得るという点でも、プロジェクト参加者のあいだで、きわめて高い成果を挙げた。特にこの2年度は、交流の質的内容に大きな進展が見られ、当初の研究テーマの掘り下げだけでなく、それを教育の場である大学において、どのように学生の教育に還元させていくかについて、討議検討する機会が得られた。その努力の成果は、日本側研究分担者の個別成果と並んで、研究代表者の監修で行なわれたイギリス放送大学ビデオ教材「社会科学基礎講座(D-103)」全16巻の日本語版の完成となって実を結んでいる。
