Neural crest cells derived from forebrain and midbrain of mouse embryos were cultured separately and performed immunohistochemistry to identify the characteristics of the differentiated cells. Neurons derived from midbrain cultures were more than those from forebrain cultures. Cells which supposed to be chondrocytes were found only in midbrain cultures and melanocyte cells were observed in forebrain cultures. These results mean that the differential potentialities from the both regions seemed to be partly restricted before migrating out from the neuroepithelium.The severe maxillofacial disorders related to the surgery were investigated in two medical facilities and the data during the past 10 years was compared each other.
