沖縄県を対象とした事業所サービス業の立地からみた地域的都市システムに関する分析結果は以下の通りである。1.事業所サービス業に関する研究動向の整理を行った結果、事業所サービス業の発展を肯定的に捉える学派は、主としてサービス業を産業部門間的区分により認識しており、事業所サービス業成長の実証的分析は十分であるが、その構造的考察は不十分であるのに対して、否定的に捉える学派は、事業所サービス業の分析に際して製造業との関連において考察しているので、その成長の要因についての構造的把握が十分に行われている。わが国においても今後service-informedなアプローチが地理学的研究に求められていることがわかった。2.事業所統計調査等による従業者の集積量の分析の結果、高次な対事業所サービス業は、那覇市における集中が著しく、広域中心性を大きく持ち、強度に中枢管理機能を持つ都市を指向することがわかった。離島地域の中心都市では、事業所サービス業の立地が若干見られるが、量的には少なく、しかも低次な機能である。一方、浦添市は広域中心機能はほとんど持ってないが、事業所サービス業の集積が大きい。これは那覇市に隣接しているため、那覇市の都市構造上の特徴によるオフィス立地空間の制約によって事業所の郊外部への消極的分散が進行し、これに対応したための立地であることがわかった。3.事業所サービス業事業所に対するアンケート分析による結果、本島中部及び北部、離島地域の各中心都市の那覇市に対する事業所サービスの依存性は大きく、サービスであるため取引関係は物理的隔絶性を問題としていない。浦添市も那覇市との取引関係が大きく、サービスフローは市内で完結していない。また、那覇市においては県外、主として東京都との関係も若干見られ、これは国家的都市システムに呼応するものである。
