人的過誤を予測、予防するためには、過誤を生起させる重要な要因を検出し、これを指標として客観化する必要がある。こうした観点から本研究では、事象関連電位(ERP)、反応時間(RT)、知覚残効を指標とした実験的研究を行った。(1)作業負荷と、聴覚刺激に対するERPの関係に関する実験では、ERPのP300成分の振幅と課題難易度との正の相関が認められた。しかし、両者の関係は単純ではなく、認知過程に及ぼす負荷(課題難易度)と覚醒水準の低下などの生理学的条件、の双方の影響を複合的に受けていると考えられた。また、誤反応は少数であったため、多数回の加算平均を必要とするERPでは評価に困難な面がある。単試行のERPを評価するため予備的に行った適応形フィルタリングによれば、誤反応試行では潜時の変動がきわめて大きい可能性が考えられた。(2)知覚残効を客観的に検出するために、パソコンのCRT画面に指標を複数提示して個々の指標は異なる速度で同方向に移動させ、低確率で生じる指標の色の変化(目標刺激)を検出させる課題を考案し、健常被験者を対象に実施した。指標の速度を平均値のまわりに多く分布させ、高速、および低速を少数に設定すると、平均値近傍の速度で移動する指標群に対して順応とその持続が生じ、高速群および低速群よりも目標刺激検出のRTが延長することがわかった。このような順応や回復、その状態の遷移の柔軟性などと作業負担との関係は、今後検討すべき課題である。
