従来、平安時代の日本漢詩文の言語は、概ね中国漢文に準拠すると説かれてきたが、語彙の面に注目してみると、中国の漢文には認めがたい、日本独特の意味・用法で用いられている漢語(和化漢語)の少なからず存することに気付かれる。しかしながら、認定の方法に困難を伴うこともあって、その実態調査は、十分に行われていないのが実状である。本研究は、平安時代の漢詩文における和化漢語の認定方法を検討した上で、その量的構造を解明し、さらに一々の和化漢語の生成過程を追求することにより、漢語の、わが国における意味変化の要因・類型といった原理的な問題にまで迫ることを目的として出発した。具体的には、次のような成果が得られた。以下、箇条的に示すこととする。1,平安時代の漢詩文のうち、表白文・願文について、京都の古寺院(仁和寺、高山寺など)、金沢文庫、東京大学国語研究室の未公表の文献資料の調査、蒐集を行い、パーソナルコンピュータによって文献学的な基礎データの整理を行った。2,『本朝文粋』所収の願文の漢語索引を作成した。3,特に、願文について、そこに使用されている漢語の性格が、身分差、法会の種類、文章構成などによって異なっているとの見通しを得て、その構想を示した。4,願文中に用いられる「松」のイメージが、中国古典の用法と本邦のそれとの双方を受容しているらしいことを明らかにした。(2・3の成果については、国語語彙史研究会および鎌倉時代語研究会にて口頭発表を行った。)今後は、表白文・願文にとどまらず、広く漢詩文全体を対象に、漢語の性格(和化、和製の漢語を中心に)の解明に努め、加えて、後世の文章への影響についても考察したいと思う。
