1.研究計画に従って、まずはイギリスおよび日本で出版された国語教育(特に話しことば教育)関係文献並びに学校教育一般に関する文献を読解する作業を進めた。また、国内の大学図書館に出向き、イギリスで出版された国語教育並びに教育一般に関する雑誌を中心に閲覧した。2.こうした基礎作業を通して、イギリスの義務教育諸学校における話しことば教育の動向を把握した。話しことば教育は、話すことの教育と聴くことの教育とに大別できる。今年度の研究では、特に1960年代以降のイギリスにおける聴くことの教育の動向を詳細に把握できた。3.上記の研究成果は、論文としてまとめ、人文科教育学会編『人文科教育研究』に投稿し、現在審査中である。同論文では、イギリスにおける聞くことの教育が、当初は、受け身となってただ他人の話を受容するという立場であったものの、その後、積極的に相手から情報を聴き出す・聴取するという立場に変化していった過程を明らかにした。その傾向は、1980年代後半以降確固なものとして実践されていったのである。同論文の骨子となった口頭発表は次の通りに行った。安 直哉「イギリスの国語科教育における聴くことの教育の一展開」(第87回全国大学国語教育学会、平成6年10月19-20日、神戸市総合教育センター)4.今後は、上記の研究をふまえて、そうした動向の背景にある国語科教育思想というものが、日本とイギリスではどのように違っているかを解明していきたいと考える。
