项目摘要

民俗における陰陽道系知識の浸透と展開について本研究で明らかになったのは大別して次の4点である。第1は鹿児島県奄美地方における年中行事と干支によって表わされた方位観との密接な関連である。同地方の豊年祭りの相撲においてサスガン(殺生神)の所在する方角はモノシリやトネヤの管理者などの宗教的知識を持つ者によって占定されるが、こうした神格と知識とは陰陽道の方位観念の変容と考えられる。第2に沖縄県八重山地方における暦書の制作の問題が挙げられる。本土と著しく風土の異なる同地方において近世後半から日本と中国との暦書を参考に八重山独自の暦書を作成しようとする動きがあったことが見いだされた。書物を媒介にした陰陽道の知識の受容形態として注目すべきものである。第3は宮崎県高千穂地方における神楽に見られる陰陽道系要素である。神楽を歴史的に意味づける十二社明神(高千穂神社)の由来書には陰陽道系の知識が縦横に駆使されており、実際の神楽の執行においても従来注意されてきた修験道の祭式の中に陰陽道的な要素が多く見いださせることが明らかとなった。第4にこうした陰陽道の知識の浸透に大きな役割を果たしたと思われる近世近代の陰陽道書の内容検討と民族的な展開過程への見通しが挙げられる。具体的には『年中運気指南』(正徳5年・1715刊)の作者岡本一包子の伝説及びその内容の分析と近世以降一般化した暦注である三隣亡の民俗化との2つの方面からのアプローチである。前者によって近世医学の啓蒙的な部分と陰陽道との結びつき、後者によってさまざまな民俗的禁忌を取り込み、忌日から凶日へと展開してきた様相が明らかになった。第1〜第3の点については資料整理を進め、来年以降の研究発表を目指している。第4の点にかかわる成果は『宗教研究』(日本宗教学会)。『文経論叢』(弘前大学人文学部)に報告を試みた。
