書籍の調査は、九州(福岡・熊本・佐賀・長崎)地区の図書館調査は、ほぼ完了。東京については、国立国会図書館・国立公文書館内閲文庫・都立中央図書館特殊文庫・国立東京博物館を閲覧、いままで未見の通信使関係文書を中心に調査を行った。関西地区は、まだ調査が終わっていない資料がいくつかある。時間的制限もあって、江戸時代中期から後期の通信使、五回(全十二回中)分を丹念に見ていった。本年度の調査で五十点以上の資料について、詳しい書誌をとった。また、地方史を調査した結果、書籍の購入が増え、その分複写の予定が削減された。今度の計画としては、購入した朝鮮通信使関係書籍、特に緒戦通信使の決定版として、現在刊行中の『大系 朝鮮通信使』(明石書店、全八巻のうち四巻が既刊)に掲載されている唱和・筆談集に関する記述に誤りの大きいことが、今回の調査で判明した。例えば、年次を間違えていたり、まったく別の資料を唱和集と記していたり、大きな資料をはずしていたりと。平成七年度中には、それらの誤謬を訂正することも含めて、唱和・筆談集についての論考を公にする予定である。現段階では、今回の調査研究で、調べの進んだ明和(一七六四)度か、文化(一八一一)度から、発表していこうと考えている。また、唱和・筆談集以外でも一枚刷りの記録や実録小説などの周辺分野との関係を合わせて追いかけてみるつもりである。
