(1)HHV-7と突発性発疹の関係についての検討当教室における一連の突発性発疹に関する研究の中で、HHV-7が関与しているものがあることが判明したことをさらに進めて、突発性発疹のうちHHV-7によるものの割合を明らかにすることを目的として、突発性発疹例のペア血清を用いてHHV-7抗体の測定を行った。結果として、突発性発疹のうちHHV-7によるものの割合はおよそ10%であることを明らかにした。この結果は、Pediatric Infectious Disease Journalに発表した。(2)PCR法を用いたHHV-7DNAの検出系の確立HHV-7の検出を高感度に行うためにPCR法による検出系について予備実験を行った。検査材料として、すでにHHV-7であることが確認されているウイルス株、他のヒトヘルペスウイルス株、HHV-7感染患者からの末梢血単核球、髄液、唾液などを用いた。プライマーはYalcinら(Arch Virol 136:183,1994)に準じて作成したものを使用した。HHV-7ウイルス株、HHV-7感染患者材料からは期待する増幅産物を得ることができ、検出感度、特異性ともに優れており、本実験系が実用に値することを確認した。(3)HHV-7と疾患関連性に関する検討HHV-7が関与している疾患(初感染、再活性化)を探すために発熱、発疹のエピソードの乳幼児、原因不明の肝炎、脳炎、ウイルス関連性血球貪食症候群、免疫抑制状態の患者などについて、ウイルス分離、ウイルスDNAの検出および血清抗体価の測定を行い、現在、症例の蓄積中である。
