It has been proposed that the electric and magnetic fields radiated from an electrostatic discharge may consist of two kind of radiation. One is the radiation from the small dipole of the electrode gap in a moment of the discharge (initial discharge current). Another radiation is of the shorted path current in the electrode flowing after the discharge (short-path current). The new radiaton model is named the two-source ESD model. These currents were evaluated from the measured electric and magnetic fields. As a result, the initial current is impulsive with fast resetime. The evaluated short path current agrees with directly measured one in waveshape and in magnetude. These resultsshow that the proposed two-source ESD model is appropriate.The output voltages of terminals in a two-conductor transmission lineinduced by the ESD field were calculated using the two-source model. They were actually measured, and the calculated results were compared with the measuement ones in order to certify the proposed model. The two results agree in the order of measurement error. This result also shows the effectiveness of the model.The measurement method of complex antenna factor (CAF) which is developed for the waveform reconstruction of the transient electromagnetic fields was applied to determine EMI antenna factor. Using the developed near-field 3-antenna method, the antenna factor of a log-periodic dipole array antenna was measured accurately.In future work, the electromagnetic fields generated by ESD event of two electrodes approaching each other should be studied, because of the practical situation.
