本研究を進めるにあたって、まず、コンピュータ・ネットワークの理論、帳簿組織の理論、および内部監査の理論に関する文献研究を行った。そして、それらの分野の研究成果を相互に結びつけることで、クライアント・サーバ型(C・S型)のコンピュータ・システムを導入した企業会計システムではエンド・ユーザ・コンピューティング(EUC)の拡充が鍵となることが明らかになった。また、新しいシステムにおては、帳簿組織の内容も変化させることが求められる。特に、記入帳と元帳との区別が不要となり、すべての補助簿が元帳化すると考えられる点と、情報の存在位置を明らかにするための新たな帳簿を設ける必要がある点が重要であると考えられる。これらの研究成果については、平成7年10月に開催された日本簿記学会第11回全国大会(慶応大学)において、自由論題「ネットワーク型企業会計システムにおける帳簿組織の特徴」として研究報告を行った。また、C・S型システムに関する実証的な研究のための実験システムを構築するため、ネットワーク構築のためのOS(Windows NT)を導入し、既存のコンピュータ設備のグループ化を進めた。新たなOSに対する習熟度の不足もあり、分散処理型の企業会計システムとして十分なモデルを作り上げるには至っていないが、C・S型システムが従来のタイム・シェアリング・システムやスタンド・アロンによるパソコンに利用とは異なる大きな可能性を持ったシステムであることは確認できた。以上のような研究と並行して、企業に対する実態調査も実施した。ただし、C・S型システムが新しいシステムであり、現実の企業会計システムには十分に取り入れられていないものであるため、実際に調査することができた企業は2社に止まっている。この実態調査は今後も継続して進める予定である。
