第1の課題として設定した平安時代中期の中央官職の人事動向調査は,弁官,中務・式部・治部・民部・兵部・刑部・大蔵・宮内の8省,左近衛・右近衛・左衛門・右衛門・左兵衛・右兵衛の6衛府を対象とし、『大日本史料』第一編相当年代について行った。今後の課題は,『公卿補佐』で押さえられる上級官職を除くと十分でなかった中務・式部・大蔵・宮内の4省と左近衛・右近衛・左兵衛・右兵衛の4衛府についての調査を進め,『大日本史料』第二編相当年代についての調査を行い,両者を合わせた上で,人事動向から見た平安時代中期の官僚制を把握することである。なお,この調査によって,10世紀の大学寮紀伝道の課試関係記事のうち対策・文章得業生・給料学生についてのものの集成ができたので,「10世紀紀伝道課試関係記事一覧(稿)-前編-」として発表した。文章生試と寮試についての記事を集成する後編は現在鋭意執筆中で,両編あわせて平安地代中期の官人の官職就任以前の教育を考える基礎資料となるものである。第2の課題として設定した諸種の史料の分析による平安時代中期の官僚制の運営方式の解明については,成選叙位と臨時叙位の関係に注目するという観点から,延喜式部式拠才叙位条についての研究を行った。同条の式文としての淵源は和銅8年4月8日太政官処分にあり,同処分は和銅3年正月壬戌紀と関連付けられること,『弘仁式』において式文化する際に,運用上の問題点に配慮した修訂がなされていることを明らかにできた。この研究は平成8年3月に『大山喬平先生退官記念論文集』において「延喜式部式拠才叙位条小考」として発表する予定である。今後の課題は,官僚制の運営方式をより広く研究することであり,特に官僚制を支える官人給与制が平安時代中期にどのように変化していたのかを解明していかなければならないと考えている。
