複合動詞においてどのような動詞と動詞との組み合わせが可能であるのか,その組み合わせのルール(原則)を「複合動詞の成立条件」として明らかにするために,以下のことを実施した。1.大量の複合動詞の収集……27種の国語辞典と約700編の小説から複合動詞を収集し,先に作成した『複合動詞資料集』収載の7,432語と合わせて,約1万の複合動詞を分析対象として整理した。2.複合動詞の出典の整理……それぞれの複合動詞が国語辞典に見出し語として登録されているかどうかを「出典情報」として付与した。3.「語構成一覧データ」の作成……複合動詞の構成要素となるすべての動詞について,それがどのような複合動詞を構成しているかを,上記の出典情報・頻度情報とともに一覧できるデータを作成した。4.構成要素となる動詞の分布の調査……上記「一覧データ」の各動詞要素が,複合動詞を構成する際に,前項要素・後項要素のいずれになりやすいのか,その分布を整理した。以上のデータをもとに,前項要素になりやすい動詞と後項要素になりやすい動詞との間にどのような相違がみられるかを,動詞の文法的な特徴から語彙・意味的な特徴まで幅広く検討し,その相違をもっともよく表す諸特徴を抽出するとともに,それらの諸特徴が複合動詞を成立させる(成立させない)条件として機能しているかどうかを,今後,検討する計画である。
