项目摘要

1、泉鏡花の「草迷宮」は、その題名によって西洋的な「石」の迷宮ではない、東洋的・日本的「草」の迷宮であることが示唆されているが、それは物語内容においてよりもその作品の言葉の使用法そのものにはっきり現れている。それは、語りの技法に関連するが、つまり、作中で行われる語りが草のように生成していく印象を与えるということである。2、上記1は、語りが物語内容の一部分をなしているのではないかという虚構の問題については充分に考察することはできなかった。この問題の解決のため、テキストの記述それ自体という意味での物語言説を本質的・基底的レベルとして扱う方向性を示唆する作品として、「草迷宮」同様迷宮的な語りの構造を有している谷崎潤一郎の「吉野葛」を検討した結果、異なる語りと語りの階層性において同型対応が見られ、それが言葉の文様を作り出していることを明らかにした。すなわちこれが言葉の使用法そのものの発見的認知を促すのである。3、迷宮的な構造を有する文芸作品は現代に至って「反転」のテーマをそれに加え始めることが、J・L・ボルヘスと渋澤龍彦の比較文学的研究により明らかになる。特に後者においては語りと物語内容がM・C・エッシャーの絵画作品における地と図の関係のごとく、反転することが観察され、上記2で行った考察を別の方面から補強する証左となる。4、当研究の最終的な課題である文芸理論の深化についての結論は次のようなものである。すなわち、今までの文学研究の多くが採用してきた作品内の虚構における起源としての存在者から読者に向けて発信されたメッセージが伝達されるという図式は、一種の倒錯であり、矢印の向きを正反対にして、テキストそのものを出発点にして読者が起源を錯視するという図式をいかなる場合も採用しなければならないということである。
