项目摘要

この研究の目的は、「日本的経営」の形成過程に及ぼしたアメリカ経営思想の影響を明らかにすることにある。本年度はまず準備段階として、従来の国内外の「日本的経営」論のサーベイを行い、それに基づいてわれわれの研究の方法論的な位置づけを行った。その結果、従来の研究は程度の差はあるものの、その殆どが、「日本的経営」を「所与のもの(日本に固有の経営制度、行動様式)」として、しかも環境的影響を考慮しない「自律した実体」として扱っていることが明らかになった。また、その多くは欧米の(とくにアメリカの)経営システムとの対比の上で、日本の特徴を明らかにしようとしていた。その結果、極めて「静態的」かつ、ステレオタイプとしての「日本的経営」像を描き出していた。この方法の限界を克服するために、われわれは「日本的経営」を、他国の経営との出会いの中で経営主体によって「発見」され、「自覚」されて、そのようなものとして「実現」されていく一連のプロセスとして描くという「動態的」方法が必要なのではないかということを確信した。このプロセスは、異文化との接触の中で自文化の特殊性を発見し、それを自覚的に強化していく過程ともいえる。そのような過程を具体的ケースを追いながら実験的に論じたものが拙稿“ A study of the dynamic nature of Japanese Management. The American cultural impact on Japanese business leaders " (『帝塚山経済学』Vol.7, 1998)である。本年度のこのような予備的研究を踏まえ、来年度はさらに方法論を精緻化するとともに、ケースを収集していきたいと考えている。
