Fundamental Study on Electric Wear of Machine Elements by means of Rollers

In this study, the effects of contact stress o_H, applied D.C.voltage V_0, maximum electric current I_0 applied to close circuit formed by metal to metal contact and surface roughness R_y, on electric current I between lubricated roller surfaces were investigated by measuring the electric current between lubricated roller surfaces under various o_H, V_0 and I_0. The effects of V_0, I_0 and R_y on the amount of wear and fatigue life were also determined by carrying out the two roller tests under various V_0 and I_0. Furthermore, the surface failure mode of rollers of different surface roughnesses under various V_0 was investigated.The main results obtained from this investigation are summarized as follows.(1) The electric current I between lubricated roller surfaces tends to increase with an increase of contact stress o_H irrespective of surface roughness R_y, applied voltage V_0 and maximum electric current I_0 applied to close circuit formed by metal to metal contact, but becomes almost constant for larger o_H values. The minimum o_H value at which the I value becomes almost constant decreases with increases of R_y, V_0 and I_0 values.(2) The amounts of wear of rollers with different surface roughnesses are almost equal irrespective of V_0 value for V_0≦10V and I_0≦0.4A.For V_0>10V and I_0>0.4A, the amounts of wear tend to increase with increases of V_0 and I_0, but the rate of increase becomes smaller with an increase of R_y.(3) Fatigue life N_c of rollers decreases with an increases of R_y irrespective of V_0. The N_c values are almost equal irrespective of R_y and V_0 for V_0≦10V.For V_0≧20V, the N_c values tend to decrease with an increase of V_0, but the effect of V_0 on N_c becomes smaller with an increase of R_y.(4) The surface failure of rollers is pitting, in which the pits fan out to the rolling direction, irrespective of o_H, V_0 and I_0.
本文通过测量不同接触应力oH、直流电压V_0、最大接触电流I_0和表面粗糙度R_y下润滑辊面间的电流I,研究了接触应力oH、直流电压V_0、最大接触电流I_0对润滑辊面间电流I的影响。通过在不同的V_0和I_0下进行两轮试验,确定了V_0、I_0和R_y对磨损量和疲劳寿命的影响。此外,还研究了不同表面粗糙度的轧辊在不同V_0下的表面失效模式。(1)润滑辊表面间的电流I随接触应力o_H的增大而增大,与表面粗糙度R_y、外加电压V_0和金属与金属接触形成的闭合回路所施加的最大电流I_0无关,但当o_H值较大时,电流I几乎不变。I值几乎不变的最小o_H值随R_y、V_0和I_0值的增大而减小。(2)当V_0 ≥ 10 V、I_0 ≥ 0.4A时,不同表面粗糙度轧辊的磨损量与V_0值无关;当V_0> 10 V、I_0>0.4A时,磨损量随V_0、I_0的增大而增大,但随R_y的增大而增大的速率变小。(3)滚子的疲劳寿命N_c随R_y的增加而降低,与V_0无关。当V_0 ≤ 10 V时,N_c值几乎与R_y和V_0无关;当V_0 ≤ 20 V时,N_c值随V_0的增大而减小,但随R_y的增大,V_0对N_c的影响变小。(4)轧辊的表面失效是点蚀,点蚀坑沿轧制方向呈扇形展开,与o_H、V_0和I_0无关。
