项目摘要

Community-Public-Bath here means a bath created and operated by people, in the Community, and open solely to then free of charge.1. According to the result of the questinnaire distributed to cities, towns, and villages, Community-Pubic-Bath is Widely distributed in rural regeons, and not limited to some regions, though there is a difference in its distribution density. There Were more ones in the Western part of Japan.2. Its birth is estimated around 1900 to 1930, earlier in some areas such as the nothern parts of Kyushu, and later in other area such as Nagano. Its extinction occurred almost at one time all through the country in the 1960s.3. Although there are some varieties in its size, there are many conmmon aspects regardless of the areas, such as voluntary operation and maintenance by the community people, core role in their daily lives played by the Bath, formation of socially nondiscriminatory human relations.4. It was also found that in Korea the same kind of Community-Pubulic Bath Was formed as a part of Saemaul movement. This did not last long, but the similarity was observed between Japan and Korea, regarding its styles and functions in the given commumity.5. Community-Public-Bath Was maintained to contribute to mutual benefit and created an opportunity to raise a community equal to its people. However, the tendency is that it might be forgotten, keeping pace With its extinction, maybe because of the fact that the activities involved in Community-Public-Bath were too commonplace and private ones. Still, the traditional viewpoint that the fellowship in bathing is only fed by the other party should be altered.
