Children's Interest in NatureDespite the proliferation of artificial or manufactures objects in modern society, children still maintain a high level of interest in nature and their natural surroundings. Though nature wasn't the main theme in many drawings, scenes from nature such as the sky, the sun, natural plants and free living objects were prevalent. There was no difference in the frequency of natural plants and free living objects between the countries, but pupils from the U.K. exhibited nature more frequently suggesting that these elements are more common in their surroundings.2. Influence of ComicsOn the other hand, though children from both countries exhibit a fondness for comics, the frequent appearance of comical features in the drawings Japanese pupils may be a direct result of the huge flood of such literature and television programs.
