二年間にわたる資料蒐集活動の結果、漢代より唐代に至る「山川志」関連の資料はかなり蒐集することができた。また、蒐集した資料の整理と電子化(パソコンヘのデータ入力)を行った結果、研究成果報告書では下記の二点の資料集をまとめることができた。一つめは「漢唐地理書目(稿)その2〜起漢至唐五嶽四涜諸名山川書記 篇〜」である。この資料集は、研究代表者の薄井が、平成7年3月に作成した『平成6年度科学研究費補助金(一般研究C)研究成果報告書』所収の「漢唐地理書目(稿)その1〜起漢至唐諸州書記 篇〜」の続編である。漢代より唐代に至る間に作成されたものの、その後散逸している文献資料およそ六十件について、諸書に引用されている断片を蒐集し、それらひとつひとつについて、書名・著者・成書年代・内容等についての考察を加えたものである。成果の二つめが「漢唐地理書輯逸(稿)その1〜五嶽四涜諸名山川書 篇〜」である。これは上記の資料の本文をまとめたものである。今回蒐集整理した文献資料の中には、慧遠『廬山記』や王嘉『名山記』のように、ほぼ全文が残っているもの、あるいは謝霊運『遊名山志』や張玄之『呉興山墟名』のように、既にある程度輯逸作業が施されているものもある。しかし、張野『廬山記』や徐霊期『羅浮山記』のように、これまでほとんど顧みられなかった資料がほとんどである。その点、今回の輯逸作業と考察によって、当該時期の山川志の姿が、いくらかなりとも明らかになったことは、これからの研究の展開にとって、大きな意義があるものと考えられる。
