(1)まず、古典期においてそれまでの魂(ψυxη)に対する見方を集約しその後の魂や心の理解に対して最も影響を与えたアリストテレスの著作『魂について』(De Anima)について、テキストの校訂、翻訳、注釈の作業を進め、アリストテレスの魂の捉え方を明確化するとともに、長い伝統をもつ従来の校訂や注釈、諸解釈に多くの問題が存在することを確認した。このうち校訂及び翻訳については、ほぼ作業を終え、翻訳は、ある程度の注釈と解説とともに、近く刊行される予定である。(2)さらにこのアリストテレスの魂論の伝承と受容の過程できわめて影響力ある役割を果たした新プラトン主義について、新プラトン主義者たちがアリストテレスのテキストの読解の特徴とその基本思想をどのように変容させているのかを、個々のパッセージの解釈の分析を通じて具体的に解明した。さらに近現代において、このような新プラトン主義者による変容あるいは改作が近現代哲学の主要な議論にどのように影響しているのかを検証した。とりわけ、認知の「対象」objectというきわめて一般的な概念や、現代の心の哲学において問題的なキー・コンセプトである「志向性」intentionalityの概念なども、以上の伝承過程と関連した歴史的経緯と思想的背景を通じて成立していることを確認し、これに関連した発表をおこなった。(3)また他方で、以上のような思想の受容と変容の問題を、より広い社会的コンテキストから考察することを進めつつある。とくに、新プラトン主義者たちが、哲学の研究と教育において、具体的にどのような教育と研究のプログラムを組織し、そのなかでプラトン及びアリストテレスの著作をどのように教育し研究したのかを考察する発表をおこなった。((2)(3)の成果については、来年度に刊行される雑誌に記載される予定である。)
