Support provision toward a group and intergroup relations

This study adopted the perspective of attribution theory of helping and social identity theory, and extended their argument to the psychological mechanisms governing support provision and cooperation toward outgroups. The study consisted of the four research projects described below.1) Experiments were conducted to reveal the basic interaction process of cognitive and affective factors concerning support provision.2) Simulated Society Games were conducted to identify the determinants of support provision toward outgroups.3) A survey study was conducted to reveal the determinants of intent to cooperate with other regions and resource allocation in city planning.4) Surveys and experiments were conducted to examine the determinants of attitudes toward under-privileged people and discuss the implications toward public policy.
