ROLE AND SIGNIFICANCE OF SOCIAL WELFARE FORMATION AND OKAYAMA ORPHANAGE IN JAPAN

The abstracts of the studies from 1999 to 2002 as follows:1. The study of the relief and administration system at the Okayama Orphanage from beginning to the end for forty years was proceeded for journals. These were compiled as A research Report through a scientific research grant as well.2. References of figures were created through Juji Ishii's 27 journals as a basic research of the Okayama Orphanage. In addition, the data of human relationship among staff and friends with Ishii were collected.3. The journals (four of seven volumes) of Shinichi Suetoh, one of the staff were translated into current Japanese style. Moreover, a basic data were analyzed for understanding of the staff motivation and activities from the middle of Meiji Era to the Taisho Era.4. The data of the local committee members and donations were collected from 'Okayamakojiin shinpou'. A report was arranged to find out expanding local committee members and donation activities nationally.5. Since the family home construction at the Okayama Orphanage was existed in Okayama city, the research was proceeded to measure the structure and was made a blue print. It was confirmed that was professional construction and related to a modem construction for small home system.6. Data collection were proceeded every years (four times) in every August for two weeks as a team at the Juji Ishii Library (Ishii Memorial Yuaisba) in Miyazaki. It is still on process for making data basis collected order.7. The data collection are proceeding about the Sendai Christian Orphanage, which was established during the Meiji Era for future comparative study.
