项目摘要

本研究は列島各地の中期旧石器時代と後期旧石器時代初頭の石器群の地域性、連続性を検討する中で、北海道の該期石器群を考究するという目的と、斜軸尖頭器の機能的な推定という目的で遂行されてきた。列島各地の後期旧石器時代初頭石器群の様相検討では、北海道を除く各地域で石斧と台形様石器が主要な利器として用いられ、すでに地域性が認められた。また中期旧石器時代石器群の剥片剥離技術の検討では従来求心的剥離が主体と言われてきたが、打面転移剥離も多く、台形様石器や切断調整の初原的ナイフ形石器を生産した剥片剥離技術との類似性が認められた。石斧については後期旧石器時代初頭と中期旧石器時代では、製作技術上の相違点は少ないが、片刃両刃比率とサイズの相違が顕著であり、機能的な差異が予想された。したがって北海道の後期旧石器時代初頭石器群が石斧を組成しないのは植生への環境適応と考えられた。北海道では明瞭な台形様石器は存在しないが、剥片剥離技術は本州の台形様石器石器群に近似し技術基盤の共通性が顕著であった。個別石器に表出した表現形式での相違が北海道の後期旧石器前半期を規定するものと考えた。こうした北海道の後期旧石器初頭石器群と総進不動坂遺跡などの斜軸尖頭器石器群後半期石器群では、剥片生産基盤の共通性が確認された。斜軸尖頭器の型式学的な検討による本州の該期石器群との対比も可能であると思われ、群馬県桐原遺跡、新潟県津南町高位段丘遺跡例などと型式的な共通性が伺えた。また中期旧石器時代の尖頭器の機能推定研究は欧米でも少なく、実験的手法による検討が必要となり、予備的な実験も行った。しかし旧石器ねつ造事件によって本研究の対象としている中期旧石器についても慎重に取り扱う必要が生じており、今後は藤村氏関与資料と非関与資料は研究遂行上分けて取り扱い、資料の有効性の検討作業を行うべきものと考える。

This study is aimed at investigating the geographical and connectivity of the stone tools from the Middle Paleolithic to the Late Paleolithic in various parts of the archipelago, and estimating the functions of the oblique axis tip tools. The object of this study is to carefully select the data from the Middle Paleolithic, and to study the data from the Middle Paleolithic.
