STUDIES ON CLIMATIC CHANGE IN WESTERN DESERT AREAS IN CHINA AS DETERNINEDLONG CHAIN ALKENONE

以长链烯酮为依据的中国西部荒漠地区气候变化研究

Aim of this work is two-fold 1) to identify long-chain alkenone in the saline lake sediments collected in the deep western desert area of China and 2) to clarify variability of lake water temperature after latest glacier maximum to present as calculated unsaturation index of long-chain alkenone which has been reported to exist in Coccolithophoride fossils of marine sediments.The saline lake sediments collected from Lake Aibi in Zhunger desert of the deep western China and analyzed for alkenones with carbon number of 37 to calculate unsaturation index of these compounds. Following results were obtained :・A series of long-chan alkenones with carbon numbers of 37,38 and 39 which have Several unsaturated C-C bonds were analyzed by retention time in gas Chromatography.・The long-chain alkenones were identified as di-, tri, tetra-unsaturated C_<37> alkenone by the combined gas chromatography-mass spectrometer. From the alkenone composition, we can calculated the unsaturate indices by which in situ temperature of lake water were determined as 4.8℃ by using of Sawada-Handa Equation in the Lake Aibi.・Several spices of coccolithophoride including Gephaerocapsa sp.were identified as phytoplankton producing long-chain alkenone by both microscopy and scanning electron microscopy.・These data strongly suggest that long-chain alkenone analyses must be promising tool to explore paleoclimate change in the deep wester desert areas of China.
本工作的目的是两方面的:1)鉴定中国西部沙漠地区盐湖沉积物中的长链烯酮; 2)阐明冰川最大期后湖水温度的变化,以计算长链烯酮的不饱和指数。链烯酮是一种已知存在于海洋沉积物中的颗石藻化石中的化合物并对37位碳原子的烯酮进行了分析,计算了这些化合物的不饱和指数。·用气相色谱保留时间法分析了一系列碳数为37、38和39的长链烯酮,这些化合物含有多个不饱和碳-碳键。经气相色谱-质谱联用仪鉴定,长链烯酮为二、三、四不饱和碳<37>烯酮。根据烯酮的组成,计算出各组分的温度指数,用Sawada-Handa方程确定了艾比湖湖水的温度为4.8℃。通过显微镜和扫描电子显微镜鉴定,包括Gephaerocapsa sp.在内的几种石球藻被鉴定为产生长链烯酮的浮游植物。这些数据表明,长链烯酮分析是探索中国西部沙漠地区古气候变化的有效工具。
