4〜6月には前年度の調査研究の成果をまとめて日本民族学会第36回研究大会(6/1-6/2、金沢大学文学部)で「集団化期モンゴルにおける家畜に対する管理と価値付け:モンゴル国ドンドゴビ県デレン郡の事例より」として発表し、それまで経済的側面のみから論じられてきた集団化期(1950-80年代)における家畜の価値を見直した。従来研究が分析対象とした「共有家畜」(牧畜協同組合の所有とされた)は管理上、類としての側面が強調され一元的に商品利用されたのに対し、本研究が注目した「私有家畜」(牧民の手元に少数残された)の分析からは、これが人間との相互交渉的な関係を通して贈与や過去の記憶を喚起する記号の役割といった重層的な価値をも担っていたことが明らかとなった。7〜9月の成果は、モンゴル国のa)ドルノト県バヤンドン郡、b)ドンドゴビ県デレン郡、c)トゥブ県バヤン・ツァガーン郡でのフィールドワーク(9/18-10/5)の準備と実施である。a)では、○集団化期に国家主導の家畜管理システムが地方の牧民にどのように受容されていたか、○人間と家畜の関係は民営化(1992-)によっていかに変化したか、○学校教育は牧民の居住様式や社会関係にどのような影響を与えるか、を調査検討した。収集したデータは、【郡役場から】人口、家畜数統計、地図等、【牧民からの聞き込み】民主化以前と以降の、家畜管理技術、家畜個体に対する認識、家畜を媒介とした牧民どうしの社会関係、等である。b)では同上調査に加え、現郡長と社会主義期の郡長(から、国家の牧畜政策の変化に対応した地方レベルでの家畜管理制度の運用の変遷と、牧民の季節移動を支える土地(牧地)利用権の制度的側面に関する聞き込みを行った。b)に隣接するc)では前述の土地利用権制度に関連する補足調査を行い、両郡間には社会主義期より郡、県を越境する季節移動および通婚が頻繁にあり、これは現在では両郡間で結ばれる牧地利用協定に支えられているという知見を得た。10月以降の下半期には、上記フィールドワークで収集したデータを整理、分析し、論文としてまとめている。
