On the process of young mothers' getting positive attitude towards child-rearing with their anxiety for their own self-actualization

We examined young Japanese mothers attitude towards child-rearing through questionaire method. The main results are as follows. They had not only positive attitude but also negative attitude towards their children and child-rearing. The negative attitude showed that they had conflict between child-rearing and their self-actualization. Working mothers who wanted to continue their job got higher positive score for child-rearing than mothers who don't want to do. Non-working mothers who wanted to stay at home with their children and didn't want to work, got higher positive score than mothers who were eager to get jobs. As for the score for psychological well-being , the situation was the same. And working mothers who thought working realize self-actualization got higher positive score for child-rearing and for psychological well-being. Non-working mothers who thought similarly got higher positive score for child-rearing but not for psychological well-being. But those mothers who thought working realize self-actualization also got higher negative score for child-rearing. This negative attitude towards child-rearing seems to show no not only their irritation but also forward -looking approach to their problems in the life-cycle. We also examined data of Danish parents and young women, in addition to Japanese fathers and young women.

本研究以问卷调查法，探讨日本年轻母亲的育儿态度。主要结果如下。他们对子女和育儿的态度既有积极的一面，也有消极的一面。消极的态度反映出他们在子女养育与自我实现之间存在冲突。愿意继续工作的在职母亲在养育子女方面的积极得分高于不愿意继续工作的在职母亲。不工作的母亲，想留在家里陪孩子，不想工作，得到更高的积极得分比谁渴望找到工作的母亲。至于心理健康的得分，情况也是一样的。认为工作能实现自我实现的职业母亲在子女养育和心理幸福感上的正向得分较高。有类似想法的非在职母亲在养育子女方面的积极得分较高，但在心理健康方面的积极得分不高。而认为工作能实现自我实现的母亲在养育子女方面的负向得分也较高。这种对养育子女的消极态度似乎不仅表明他们的愤怒，而且还表明他们对生命周期中的问题采取了前瞻性的态度。我们还研究了丹麦父母和年轻女性的数据，以及日本父亲和年轻女性的数据。
