Succession of the Pleistocene and recent hormatypic coral

2001年7月至8月，在日本琉球岛的石垣岛、伊洛岛和基凯岛对现代和第四纪化石珊瑚礁进行了研究。用定量方法记录了石垣岛白鹤珊瑚礁沿岸1m^2的珊瑚群落。更新世群落还在基凯吉马和伊拉布-吉马的垂直露头上进行了样方调查，并通过野外研究拍摄的素描和照片估计了现代纹状珊瑚群落的盖度。利用图像分析软件(NIH Image)计算各物种的相对丰度。在Kikai-Jima的Kamikatetsu海岸的露头上，重建了全新世海平面变化期间的纹型珊瑚群落演替。分析了基凯吉马Shidooke露头的更新世珊瑚序列。

Recent and Quaternary fossil coral reefs were studied in Ishigaki-jima, Irabu-jima and Kikai-jima in the Ryukyu Island, Japan from July to August 2001. The recent coral communities were recorded by a quantitative method with quadrat (1 m^2 in area) along the coast of Shiraho coral reef in the Ishigaki-jima. Pleistocene communities were also investigated on vertical outcrops in the Kikai-jima and Irabu-jima with quadrat methods.Coverage of the recent hermatipic coral communities was estimated with sketches and photographs which were taken through the field studies. Relative abundance of each species was calculated by using software for image analysis (NIH Image). Community successions of the hermatypic corals through the Holocene sea-level changes were reconstructed on the outcrop at Kamikatetsu coast of the Kikai-jima. Pleistocene coral successions were analyzed on the outcrops at Shidooke, Kikai-jima.
