Carbon dioxide (CO2) as supercritical fluid (SCF) may be utilized as an environmentally benign solvent substitute. CO2 is non-toxic, non-flammable, and has easily accessible critical conditions, i.e., Tc=304 K and Pc=7.46 MPa. Recently, despite the fact that the catalytic activities of these modified enzymes have been extensively explored in routine organic solvents, applications of surfactant-enzyme complexes to synthesize biomolecules such as peptides or proteins in SO-CO2 have been scarcely reported.In this work, we have applied the surfactant-enzyme by to synthesize dipeptide, biodegradable polymer, and to amplified DNA in SO-CO2. This is the first report utilizing surfactant-enzyme complexes for bioproduct synthesis in SO-CO2. And we discuss the effects of reaction media, temperature, pressure, surfactant species, and water content on the enzymatic synthesis in SC-CO2.
