ライプニッツの位置解析は,幾何学的記号法,位置計算などとも呼ばれ,ライプニッツ思想の重要な学問領域である.しかしながら体系的な著作を生涯残さず,内容に関しては短い諸論文から推定構成するしかない.また着想は早かったこと以外に位置解析に関する諸論文の執筆年代は不明であった.なかでも重要な論文「位置解析について」を中心に,その着想年代と内容とを考察した.1.クーチュラ,ゲルハルトなどの先行研究を参考に,位置計算にかかわる研究年代を3期に分けた.なかでも位置計算はその他の論文の年代を勘案して1693年頃作成されたと考えられる.2.内容に考察を加え,数学的にはユークリッド,デザルグとは異なる第3の幾何学を目指していたことを示した.しかしながらライプニッツ自身は完成することはなく,また後継者もなかった.3.位置解析の着想は早くから行われ,とりわけユークリッド『原論』との出会いが重要であることが示された.したがって,『ユークリツドの基礎について』という未完成の論文のテクスト解読を試みた(完全な解読には至っていない).4.位置解析そしてその考察の重要な契機をなしたユークリッド研究に,ライプニツはロベルヴァル『幾何学原理』,ホッブスの著作から多くの刺激を受けたことを明らかにした.したがってライプニッツの位置解析がまったく孤高の作品であったというわけではなく,当時のひとつの時流に乗った作品であることが明らかにされた.5.量や数を介在することのない位置解析はまた幾何学のみならず,ライプニッツ流の解析としても意味を持つことが明らかにされた.すなわちギリシア以来の解析と総合(幾何学)を記号によって統合することを目指していたのである.6.以上の成果を得るために,ライプニッツ手稿を調査し,「位置解析について」のテクスト解読をおこないそれとライプニッツの数学著作の年代とをHPに掲載した.
