我が国の科学技術黎明期資料として、平成12年度に「トヨタコレクション(旧赤木コレクション)」約1300点を、国立科学博物館がトヨタ自動車から預託を受け、下記の調査・研究を行った。(1)国立科学博物館と東京国立文化財研究所の研究分担者により、資料の基本リストを作成した。リスト作成は、コレクションの資料確認とともに、法量の測定や写真撮影、材質などの基礎的な項目について行い、一部については、研究者による調査、評価も行った。これらの成果については、2回行われた研究会及び公開シンポジウムにおいて発表された。また、その発表された一部については、国立科学博物館のインターネット・ホームページでも公開された。(2)全国の関連資料を持つ博物館や大学研究者と、協力体制を構築し、今後の調査・研究についての調整を行った。特に、現況の保存状態などについて要請のあった、佐賀県鍋島報效会所蔵の「蒸気車模型」(安政2(1855)年佐賀藩精煉方製作・佐賀県立博物館保管)については、東京に輸送し、内部構造などの調査を行った。また計量資料(度量衡)について、先行的に調査を行っていた計量史学会と連携して、全国的な調査を行い、約6000件の所在データベースを作成し、報告書とした。

Data on the dawn period of science and technology in China were collected at the National Museum of Science and Technology in 2012. The survey and research were carried out at about 1300 points. (1)The National Museum of Science and Technology and the Tokyo National Institute of Culture and Finance are responsible for the preparation of basic data. Data validation, measurement, photo analysis, material analysis, research, evaluation, etc. The results of this study were published in the form of a two-cycle seminar and a public seminar. In addition, a part of the public announcement has been made public at the National Science Museum's website. (2)National data collection, museum and university researchers, collaborative system construction, future research and adjustment Special, current state of preservation,"Steam car model"(produced by Ogata Refinery in 1855 and kept by Saga Prefectural Museum), Tokyo Transportation, Internal structure investigation. Measurement data (weights and measures) were collected and investigated by the Institute of Metrology and History. About 6000 pieces of measurement data were collected and reported.
