项目摘要

近世-近代移行期の、地方諸団体において発生する機能不全の問題と、その変容の過程についての研究を行なった。具体的な内容は以下のとおりである。1 災害時救済をめぐる機能不全とその変容の検討。対象としては、「小川家文書」「当麻家文書」「当麻伝兵衛家文書」(以上、小平市中央図書館所蔵)、「東京府文書」(東京府公文書館所蔵)、「堀江家文書」(中野区立歴史資料館に複製所蔵)、「大熊(正)家文書」、「埼玉県行政文書」(以上、埼玉県立文書館所蔵を利用した。第一に近世中後期の武蔵野新田地帯における災害・凶作時の諸救済の類型化を行ない、天保飢饉以降、村を単位とする富裕者による貧困層の救済が比重を増すこと、それが村の共同性の成熟であると同時に腐朽であることを解明した。第二に、それを引き継ぐ維新期直轄県における備荒儲蓄政策はその隘路を打開するという政策目的を持っていたが、結果的には救済の主体たりえず、失敗に終わることを論じた。2 幕末維新期の村方騒動と、それに対応した村落運営の再編過程の検討。対象としては「武蔵国大里郡大麻生村古沢家文書」(国立国文学研究資料館史料館所蔵)を利用した。当該村では文政期以降、くりかえし村方騒動が発生しており、明治期に入ると対応策として村内での意思決定過程が制度化されてゆくことを明らかにし、それに平行して近世期の「組」を単位とする共同性が一村レベルの共同性へ集約されてゆくことを論じた。
