相互依存関係の性質の違いが、人々の集団認知と内集団バイアス行動に如何なる影響を及ぼすかを検討するために、報告者はこれまで最小条件集団実験状況を用いた研究を日本とオーストラリアで実施してきた。そこでは、日本で得られた相互依存生認知が欧米で再現されるかどうかを検討する目的で実験を実施し、日本と欧米での集団内における相互依存性認知に差がないことを明らかにした。これらの研究で明らかになった通文化的要因とは、直接的交換関係の場合には集団という枠組みを無視した信頼行動が生まれるのに対して、間接的交換関係が存在している場合には、同じ集団成員に対する偏った信頼行動が生まれることである。そこで、最終年度である本年度は、こういった交換関係の知覚が、集団状況に埋め込まれていない状況、すなわち、2者関係に代表されるような対人関係状況において、人々の行動に如何なる影響を及ぼすのかを検討する実験を日米で実施した。具体的には、人々が直面する依存関係の性質によって他者に対する信頼行動が如何なる影響を受けるかを検討した。その結果,2者関係においては,交換の形態が他者に対する信頼行動および信頼性行動に対して持つ効果に明確な日米差が示され、交換形態の違いが行動に与える影響の大きさは日本よりもアメリカでより強いことが明らかになった。つまり,アメリカ人は日本人よりも直接交換関係に直面すると、より他者を信頼する行動を示すのに対し、日本人はそれほど大きな違いを示さなかったのである。また、アメリカ人は日本人よりも間接交換関係でより信頼に値する行動をとったのに対し、日本人ではそういった大きな違いは認められなかった。これらの成果を発表するために現在論文を執筆中である。また,この依存関係と信頼行動,信頼性行動との関係については更なる展開につなげるためのシミュレーション研究を考案中である。
